CVE-2026-70911 is a vulnerability identified in the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management product, specifically within its Security component. The affected version is 11.2.25.0.000. This flaw is categorized as easily exploitable, allowing an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise the system. The attack does not require any user interaction or privileges, making it a low-complexity vector that can be executed remotely over the network.
The core issue stems from insufficient access control or authorization checks within the HTTP request handling mechanisms of the Hyperion Financial Management server. When an unauthenticated actor sends specific crafted requests over HTTP, the application fails to properly validate the requester’s identity. This allows the attacker to bypass authentication and gain unauthorized read access to a subset of the accessible data. The vulnerability is rooted in the Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor, as classified by CWE-200.
Successful exploitation results in a breach of confidentiality, as the attacker can view sensitive information without any credentials. The CVSS 3.1 Base Score is 5.3, which is considered MEDIUM in severity. The CVSS vector is CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N, indicating a network-attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and an unchanged scope. The impact is limited to a low confidentiality impact, with no integrity or availability impacts. This vulnerability was published by Oracle as part of the August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update.
DailyCVE Form:
Platform: Oracle Hyperion
Version: 11.2.25.0.000
Vulnerability: Information Disclosure
Severity: Medium
Date: 2026-08-18
Prediction: 2026-09-01
What Undercode Say:
Analytics indicate that this vulnerability is trivial to exploit due to the lack of authentication requirements. The attack vector being network-based over HTTP significantly increases the risk, as it can be triggered remotely without any user interaction. The CVSS score of 5.3 reflects a moderate risk, but the actual impact could be more severe depending on the sensitivity of the exposed data. Organizations should prioritize patching this vulnerability, especially if their Hyperion Financial Management instances are exposed to the internet. The following command can be used to check for the affected version on a Linux-based deployment:
grep -i "HyperionFinancialManagement" /opt/oracle/product//install/.txt | grep "11.2.25.0.000"
To simulate an unauthenticated request that may trigger the information disclosure, a security researcher might use a tool like `curl` to probe for accessible endpoints:
curl -X GET http://target-hfm-server:port/hfm/rest/api/sensitive-endpoint -H "Accept: application/json"
Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)
For educational purposes, an attacker could craft an HTTP GET request to a known vulnerable API endpoint that lacks proper authorization. The following Python script demonstrates a basic proof-of-concept to check for the vulnerability:
import requests
url = "http://target-hfm-server:port/hfm/rest/api/data"
try:
response = requests.get(url, timeout=10)
if response.status_code == 200 and "sensitive" in response.text:
print("[!] Potential information disclosure detected.")
else:
print("[-] No immediate vulnerability detected.")
except Exception as e:
print(f"[!] Error: {e}")
Protection:
To protect against this CVE, organizations should apply the security patch for Oracle Hyperion Financial Management released in Oracle’s August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update. Additionally, network segmentation and access control lists (ACLs) should be implemented to restrict HTTP access to the Hyperion Financial Management server from untrusted networks. Monitoring and logging of all HTTP requests to the application can also help detect potential exploitation attempts.
Impact:
Successful exploitation of CVE-2026-70911 leads to unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Hyperion Financial Management accessible data. This could result in the exposure of sensitive financial information, business-critical data, or configuration details, potentially aiding further attacks. The confidentiality impact is rated as LOW per the CVSS score, but the actual business impact could be significant depending on the nature of the exposed data.
