CVE-2026-61154 is a critical vulnerability affecting the Forge component of Oracle Commerce Guided Search Platform Services version 11.4.0. The flaw stems from missing or improper authentication controls on critical functions within the Forge component, classified under CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Function), CWE-287 (Improper Authentication), and CWE-269 (Improper Privilege Management). These weaknesses collectively allow unauthenticated access to protected operations that should require valid credentials.
The vulnerability is easily exploitable by an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP. The attack requires no user interaction, no privileges, and has low complexity, making it trivially exploitable. The attacker can send crafted HTTP requests to the Forge component, which does not properly validate or authenticate the incoming requests, leading to code injection. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment.
Successful exploitation results in complete takeover of the Oracle Commerce Guided Search Platform Services, allowing attackers to manipulate search results, modify commerce configurations, and potentially gain access to sensitive customer data. The CVSS 3.1 Base Score is 9.8 (Critical) with the vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H. The vulnerability was disclosed as part of Oracle’s July 2026 Critical Patch Update, released on July 21, 2026. The attack technique is mapped to MITRE ATT&CK T1190 (Exploit Public-Facing Application) and T1059 (Command and Scripting Interpreter).
The vulnerability affects only version 11.4.0 of the product. As of the publication date, no public exploit code is available, but the exploit price is estimated between $5,000 and $25,000. Organizations are urged to apply the patch immediately or restrict network access to the Forge component until patching is possible.

opatch lsinventory | grep -i "CVE-2026-61154"
Exploit:
The vulnerability can be exploited by sending unauthenticated HTTP requests to the Forge component’s API endpoints. The attacker crafts a malicious payload that is injected into a code segment processed by the Forge engine. Since the component lacks proper authentication and input sanitization, the payload is executed with the privileges of the service account, leading to remote code execution. The attacker can then establish a reverse shell, exfiltrate sensitive data, or modify system configurations. Exploitation does not require any user interaction or prior access, making it highly dangerous for internet-facing deployments.
Protection:
- Immediately apply the Oracle July 2026 Critical Patch Update, which contains the official fix for CVE-2026-61154.
- If patching is not immediately possible, restrict network-level access to the Forge component so that it is reachable only from trusted internal networks.
- Implement firewall rules to block external HTTP access to the Forge endpoints.
- Deploy Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules to detect and block malicious payloads targeting the Forge component.
- Monitor system logs for anomalous HTTP requests and unauthorized access attempts.
- Conduct a security review of all Oracle Commerce Guided Search deployments to ensure no other instances are exposed.
Impact:
Successful exploitation results in complete compromise of the Oracle Commerce Guided Search Platform Services, leading to full loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected host. Attackers can manipulate search results, modify commerce configurations, and gain access to sensitive customer data, including personally identifiable information (PII) and payment details. The high availability impact suggests that attackers could disrupt commerce operations entirely, causing service outages that affect business continuity. Organizations face significant financial losses, reputational damage, and potential regulatory compliance violations (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS) due to data breaches. The vulnerability is easily exploitable and can be automated, posing a severe risk to any organization using the affected version.
