The vulnerability exists within the HTTP middleware’s authentication whitelist logic. It fails to correctly normalize and compare URL paths, allowing an attacker to craft requests with specific path manipulations (such as adding extra slashes, dot segments, or URL-encoded characters) that are not matched against the restricted list but are still routed to protected handlers. This mismatch between the whitelist check and the actual request routing enables unauthorized access to administrative API endpoints, including those for modifying feature flags and exporting configuration data, without presenting any valid authentication credentials.
