OpenClinica, Path Traversal, CVE-2025-12922 (MEDIUM)

Listen to this Post

How the Mentioned CVE Works:

The vulnerability exists in the CRF Data Import component of OpenClinica. The `/ImportCRFData?action=confirm` endpoint accepts an `xml_file` argument. Attackers can remotely manipulate this parameter with directory traversal sequences (e.g., ../../). This allows them to specify arbitrary file paths on the server’s filesystem, potentially leading to unauthorized reading, and depending on functionality, writing or deletion of sensitive files outside the intended directory. The public exploit increases the immediate risk.
