NVIDIA DGX Spark GB10, Hardware Resource Tampering, CVE-2025-33188 (Critical)

Listen to this Post

The CVE-2025-33188 vulnerability exists in the hardware resource management of NVIDIA DGX Spark GB10 systems. Attackers can exploit insufficient access controls in hardware control interfaces, such as the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). By sending specially crafted commands via local or network access, an attacker can tamper with hardware settings. This includes manipulating power management, cooling systems, or component configurations. The flaw arises from inadequate validation of firmware commands, allowing unauthorized requests. Attackers may bypass security boundaries to access sensitive hardware registers. This leads to information disclosure through side channels or direct memory access. Data tampering is possible by altering hardware states during data processing. Denial of service can be triggered by destabilizing hardware operations, causing system crashes. Exploitation might require low-privilege initial access but could escalate to full compromise. The vulnerability affects multi-tenant environments due to shared hardware resources. Firmware updates or configuration changes might lack proper authentication, enabling persistent attacks. Hardware isolation mechanisms can be undermined, risking overall system integrity. Mitigation involves patching firmware and securing management interfaces. The critical severity stems from potential data integrity loss and service disruption. Immediate remediation is advised to prevent exploitation in critical infrastructure.
