The vulnerability CVE-2025-33187 resides within the SROOT component of the NVIDIA DGX Spark GB10 platform. SROOT is a privileged system service with access to the System-on-Chip (SoC)’s protected memory and hardware regions. The flaw allows a local attacker, who has already obtained initial privileged access on the host, to craft specific requests to the SROOT service. These malformed requests exploit an insufficient access control or validation mechanism within SROOT. Successful exploitation bypasses the hardware-enforced isolation boundaries of the SoC. This grants the attacker unauthorized read and write access to protected memory areas reserved for secure operations. Consequently, an attacker can execute arbitrary code in a high-privilege SoC context, leading to a complete compromise of the system’s security boundaries, enabling information disclosure, data tampering, denial of service, or full privilege escalation.
Platform: NVIDIA DGX Spark
Version: GB10
Vulnerability: Privilege Escalation
Severity: Critical
date: 11/25/2025
Prediction: 02/15/2026
What Undercode Say:
Bash: Check for NVIDIA updates
dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia-dgx
systemctl list-units | grep -i sroot
Code: // Hypothetical exploit flow
// 1. Gain local shell with user privileges.
// 2. Escalate to root via unrelated flaw.
// 3. Craft IOCTL to /dev/sroot_ctrl.
// 4. Trigger logic bug to map secure memory.
// 5. Read/write secure OS memory regions.
How Exploit:
Attacker gains local access, escalates to root, sends malicious IOCTL to vulnerable SROOT driver, bypasses SoC memory protection, achieves code execution in secure context.
Protection from this CVE:
Apply NVIDIA security update. Isolate management networks. Restrict local user access. Monitor for unusual SROOT service activity.
Impact:
Total system compromise, secure boot bypass, theft of cryptographic keys, persistent denial of service, integrity loss of protected data.
