How the CVE Works
The vulnerability exists in the `@nestjs/devtools-integration` package, which exposes an unsafe HTTP endpoint (/inspector/graph/interact) during local development. This endpoint accepts JSON input containing a `code` field and executes it in a poorly sandboxed Node.js `vm.runInNewContext` environment. Due to weak sandboxing (similar to the deprecated `safe-eval` library) and missing CORS protections, a malicious website can send crafted POST requests, bypassing security checks. Attackers exploit this by tricking developers into visiting a malicious page, which sends a payload to the local server, leading to arbitrary code execution on the victim’s machine.

What Undercode Say
Check if vulnerable package is installed
npm list @nestjs/devtools-integration
Exploit simulation (PoC)
curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: text/plain" http://localhost:8000/inspector/graph/interact -d '{"code":"malicious_payload"}'
Mitigation verification
npm update @nestjs/devtools-integration
How Exploit
