The vulnerability occurs within the `mongoc_bulk_operation_t` object in the MongoDB C Driver. When specific bulk operation functions are called, they accept configuration options via a `bson_t` document. If an attacker provides an options document with an extremely large size, the driver’s internal parsing logic can miscalculate memory boundaries. This miscalculation causes the driver to read memory beyond the end of the valid `bson_t` buffer. While this operation is a read and not a direct memory write, it can lead to a segmentation fault, crashing the application and causing a denial-of-service. The invalid read could also potentially leak sensitive process memory information if the read data is included in error messages or logs.
