MicrosoftAspNetCoreComponentsAuthorization, Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability, CVE-2026-70183 (High) -DC-Oct2026-3162

Listen to this Post

This security vulnerability involves a race condition flaw within the Blazor framework’s authorization pipeline, specifically residing in the Microsoft.AspNetCore.Components.Authorization package handling. In modern single-page applications and Blazor components, authorization decisions are frequently evaluated asynchronously as users navigate between views or trigger state changes. Under specific conditions, when rapid navigation or concurrent state transitions occur, a stale asynchronous authorization result can be erroneously processed and applied after a newer navigation context or security state change has already taken place. This improper synchronization allows an attacker or standard user to successfully bypass the current authorization decisions enforced by the target application’s route components. Consequently, sensitive data disclosure, unauthorized state manipulation, or arbitrary privilege escalation can be achieved within vulnerable web applications running on affected .NET runtimes.

DailyCVE Form:

Platform: Microsoft .NET
Version: .NET 8.0 to 11.0
Vulnerability: Race Condition (CWE-362)
Severity: High
date: 10/13/2026

Prediction: October 13, 2026

What Undercode Say

The vulnerability stems from improper synchronization in asynchronous authorization tasks within Blazor components.
Attackers can exploit timing windows during rapid page navigation to bypass access controls.
Review custom authorization handlers and state-change routines to ensure synchronous integrity.
Diagnostic commands can verify runtime versions across multi-platform enterprise deployments:

dotnet --info
dotnet --list-runtimes

Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)

Conceptual exploitation targets the `AuthorizeRouteView` component by dispatching asynchronous requests concurrently.
Trigger rapid navigation transitions before previous authorization callbacks conclude execution.
Intercept and replay state change events to force the application to accept stale clearance tokens.

Protection: from this CVE

Update all affected Microsoft.AspNetCore packages to the latest patched versions (e.g., 8.0.32, 9.0.21, 10.0.13, 11.0.0-rc.2).
Recompile and redeploy all self-contained applications targeting impacted runtimes immediately.

Run validation checks using command-line tools:

dotnet package update Microsoft.AspNetCore.App.Runtime

Impact:

Successful exploitation leads to total bypass of `[bash]` route decisions across applications.
Unauthorized access to restricted administrative functionalities and sensitive user information.
Potential compromise of application integrity and elevation of user privileges.
