The CVE-2025-37900 vulnerability exists within the `iommu_copy_struct_from_user()` function in the Linux kernel. This function is responsible for safely copying a data structure from user space into kernel space. The flaw involves two primary issues. First, the function fails to perform an initial check to reject a NULL pointer from the user before it is dereferenced. If a user passes a NULL pointer, the kernel attempts to access this invalid memory location. Second, there is a typo in the code that could potentially affect the robustness of the copy operation. When triggered, the NULL pointer dereference leads to a kernel oops, causing a denial-of-service by crashing the kernel. This vulnerability stems from an oversight in the initial implementation where proper pointer validation was omitted, creating an instability vector.
