Krayin CRM, Stored Client-Side Template Injection, CVE-2026-48540 (Medium) -DC-Oct2026-3222

Listen to this Post

CVE-2026-48540 represents a significant security vulnerability discovered in Krayin CRM versions up to 2.2.6.
The flaw stems from a stored client-side template injection vulnerability affecting the application’s lead management module.
Authenticated users with permissions to create or edit leads can inject malicious input into the lead field.
The application improperly neutralizes this user-supplied input before passing it to the frontend rendering engine.
Because the system utilizes Vue.js for dynamic user interfaces, template expressions enclosed in double braces are compiled.
When an attacker supplies malicious template syntax instead of a standard , the template compiler evaluates it.
This evaluation occurs directly inside the browser of any user who subsequently opens the affected lead record.
Attackers can leverage prototype chain traversal to access the JavaScript Function constructor from within the template context.
By reaching this constructor, the attacker can construct and execute arbitrary JavaScript code within the application origin.
This client-side code execution bypasses standard security boundaries established for user-generated content and data rendering.
The stored nature of the payload means that persistence is achieved inside the central database backend storage system.
Whenever an administrator or high-privileged user opens the malicious lead dashboard page, the payload automatically executes.
This execution can lead to session hijacking, sensitive cookie theft, or unauthorized modification of customer management data.
The vulnerability highlights the risks associated with mixing untrusted database inputs with client-side template compilation routines.
Proper remediation demands sanitizing all dynamic inputs and avoiding raw template evaluation of database-stored text fields.
Vendor patches and updates must be applied immediately to remove the vulnerable compilation behavior completely.

DailyCVE Form:

Platform: Krayin CRM
Version: Up to 2.2.6
Vulnerability: Client-side template injection
Severity: Medium risk score
date: September 2026 disclosure

Prediction: Patched version released

What Undercode Say:

Analysis shows that frontend template compilation engines require strict input boundaries.
When applications trust stored strings as executable templates, security models inevitably break down.
The integration of modern JavaScript frameworks often introduces complex attack vectors if data binding is mishandled.
Below is an example bash command used to test package versions and environment configurations:

git clone https://github.com/krayin/laravel-crm.git
cd laravel-crm
git checkout v2.2.6
php artisan --version

Below is a code snippet demonstrating the vulnerable template binding pattern in frontend components:

// Vulnerable Vue template rendering snippet
const app = createApp({
template: `<div>Lead ${lead.}</div>`
});

Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)

The proof of concept involves submitting a specially crafted payload into the lead input vector.
An attacker sends an HTTP POST request containing prototype traversal syntax designed to invoke the JavaScript constructor.

Example exploit payload string:

{{constructor.constructor('alert(document.domain)')()}}

When the backend saves this string and the frontend renders the lead list or detail view, the browser executes the script.

Protection: from this CVE

Upgrade Krayin CRM immediately to version 2.2.7 or higher where template sanitization is enforced.
Implement Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to restrict inline script execution and unauthorized code evaluation.
Review all input fields that accept string parameters for potential template injection vectors.

Impact:

Successful exploitation allows authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript within victim browser sessions.
This can result in unauthorized administrative actions, data exfiltration, session hijacking, and complete compromise of affected client accounts.
