How the CVE Works
The vulnerability exists in Komari’s 2FA verification logic within api/login.go. The function `Verify2FA()` contains a flawed condition that incorrectly validates 2FA codes. Due to a logical error, the function cannot return both an error state and a true validation simultaneously. This flaw causes the system to accept any 6-digit code as valid, effectively bypassing the 2FA protection mechanism. The issue stems from improper boolean checks in the authentication flow, where failed verification attempts are not properly handled. Attackers can exploit this by submitting arbitrary 6-digit codes during login to gain unauthorized access.
