IBM Concert, Cryptographic Weakness, CVE-2025-36150 (Critical)

Listen to this Post

This vulnerability exists because IBM Concert versions 1.0.0 through 2.0.0 utilize deprecated or weak cryptographic algorithms (e.g., DES, RC4, or SHA-1) for encrypting sensitive data such as user credentials or proprietary business information. The software likely employs these ciphers in its data-at-rest or data-in-transit protection mechanisms. An attacker can intercept or access the encrypted data, such as database entries or network traffic. Due to the known cryptographic weaknesses, such as small key sizes or algorithmic flaws, the attacker can then perform offline brute-force or cryptanalytic attacks to decrypt the information. This process recovers the original plaintext without needing the secret key, leading to full exposure of the protected sensitive information.
Platform: IBM Concert
Version: 1.0.0-2.0.0
Vulnerability: Weak Cryptography
Severity: Critical
date: 2025-11-24

Prediction: 2025-12-15

What Undercode Say:

Analytics:

nmap -sV --script ssl-enum-ciphers -p 443 <target_host>
grep -r "Cipher|DES|RC4|SHA1" /opt/ibm/concert/
openssl s_client -connect <target>:443 -cipher 'DES:RC4'

How Exploit:

1. Intercept encrypted traffic/data.

2. Capture ciphertext using MITM.

3. Analyze for weak algorithm use.

4. Apply cryptanalysis/bruteforce tools.

5. Decrypt to obtain secrets.

Protection from this CVE

  • Immediately upgrade IBM Concert.
  • Enforce TLS 1.2+/strong ciphers.
  • Replace deprecated algorithms enterprise-wide.
  • Audit all stored encrypted data.
