How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-40683 is a reflected XSS vulnerability in Human Resource Management System (HRMS) version 1.0. The flaw exists in the `searccity` parameter of /city.php, where user-supplied input is improperly sanitized before being reflected in the server’s response. An attacker can craft a malicious URL containing JavaScript payloads, which executes in the victim’s browser when the link is clicked. This allows session hijacking, defacement, or phishing attacks. The vulnerability requires the attacker to trick the victim into visiting the malicious URL, making user interaction a key factor.
