Huawei Office Service, Denial of Service, CVE-2025-64313 (Medium)

Listen to this Post

The CVE-2025-64313 vulnerability in Huawei Office Service stems from improper input validation within document parsing functions. When a locally authenticated user opens a specially crafted office file, such as a document containing malformed data structures, the service fails to handle memory allocation correctly. This triggers a buffer overflow or resource exhaustion condition, causing the service process to crash or become unresponsive. The attack vector is local (AV:L), requiring no privileges (PR:N) but necessitating user interaction (UI:R) to open the malicious file. The low attack complexity (AC:L) allows straightforward exploitation. The flaw resides in code paths that process specific file formats, where boundary checks are insufficient. Upon exploitation, the service termination leads to a denial of service, impacting availability (A:L) with secondary low impacts on confidentiality and integrity (C:L/I:L). The vulnerability does not allow code execution or privilege escalation. Repeated exploitation can sustain service downtime, disrupting office operations. Huawei has identified the issue in multiple software versions. The CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.3 reflects the moderate risk due to the local scope and user interaction requirements. Patches are under development to address the input validation flaw and prevent the crash condition.
