Huawei App Lock, Permission Control Vulnerability, CVE-2025-58312 (Medium)

Listen to this Post

How the Mentioned CVE Works

CVE-2025-58312 is a permission control flaw within Huawei’s App Lock module on certain devices. The vulnerability exists due to improper access validation when handling specific inter-process communication (IPC) or intent requests. Although the exact technical mechanism is not publicly detailed, the CVSS vector (AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N) indicates an attacker with physical access to a locked device could, through a complex sequence of actions, bypass the App Lock’s protection. This would likely involve sending a crafted, high-privilege request that the module fails to authenticate properly, leading to unauthorized access to the data of a locked application. The attack is local (AV:L), has high attack complexity (AC:H), requires no privileges (PR:N), and no user interaction (UI:N). Success exploits the flawed permission check, allowing confidentiality impact (C:H) by revealing app data, but does not affect integrity or availability of the system.

dailycve form:

Platform: Huawei Mobile Devices
Version: Affected EMUI versions
Vulnerability: Permission Control Bypass
Severity: Medium
date: 2025-11-27

Prediction: 2025-12-20

What Undercode Say:

$ adb shell dumpsys activity services | grep -i lock
$ am start -n com.huawei.applock/.SettingsActivity --ez extra_bypass true
Hypothetical intent fuzzing script
for i in {0..9999}; do
am broadcast -a "com.huawei.applock.ACTION_CHECK" --ei "request_code" $i
done

How Exploit:

An attacker with brief physical access could execute a series of ADB commands or install a crafted application that sends malicious intents to the App Lock service. By exploiting the improper validation, these intents could trigger the unlock procedure for a protected application without providing the correct password or biometric authentication, granting access to the app’s contents.

Protection from this CVE:

Apply security updates.

Disable USB debugging.

Use strong device passcode.

Impact:

Unauthorized app data access.

Loss of confidential information.

Bypass of application lock.
