How the mentioned CVE works:
The vulnerability exploits the Grav application’s admin endpoint `/admin/accounts/groups/Grupo` via the `data[bash]` parameter. During group creation or editing, user input in this parameter is not validated or sanitized, allowing injection of arbitrary JavaScript code. The payload, such as <ScRipT>alert('PoC-XSS')</ScRipT>, is stored server-side in the group configuration. When administrators or users access pages where the group’s display name is rendered, like the user profile section, the malicious script executes automatically in the browser. This occurs due to lack of output encoding, enabling persistent attack execution. The stored XSS bypasses client-side filters, leveraging unsanitized input handling in the backend. Attackers can craft requests to inject scripts that remain active until data removal, compromising any user viewing the affected page. The vulnerability hinges on missing server-side input validation and improper rendering of user-controlled data, leading to session hijacking or data theft.
