How CVE-2025-66298 works:
Grav, a file-based web platform, has a Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) vulnerability in versions before 1.8.0-beta.27. The flaw occurs in form processing where user input from POST requests is not properly sanitized before being passed to the template engine. Attackers can inject malicious template syntax into form fields, which is then executed on the server. This allows arbitrary template commands to access internal configuration objects. By using payloads that dump system variables, such as Grav’s configuration arrays, sensitive data like database credentials, API keys, and plugin settings can be retrieved. The vulnerability exploits the direct rendering of user input in templates, leading to full configuration disclosure. Any form on the site serves as an entry point. The SSTI enables attackers to exfiltrate configuration details through HTTP responses. The fix in 1.8.0-beta.27 involves validating and sanitizing form inputs to prevent template injection.
