Grafana, XSS via Open Redirect & Path Traversal, CVE-2025-XXXXX (High)

Listen to this Post

The vulnerability in Grafana OSS (CVE-2025-XXXXX) allows attackers to chain open redirects with path traversal to execute cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. Starting from Grafana v11.5.0, improper URL validation enables malicious actors to craft deceptive links that redirect users to attacker-controlled domains. When combined with insufficient path sanitization, this flaw permits injecting arbitrary JavaScript into trusted Grafana contexts. The XSS payload executes within the victim’s session, potentially compromising dashboards, user data, or admin functions. Patched versions enforce strict URL parsing and block traversal sequences.
