How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-5357 is a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in FreeFloat FTP Server 1.0, specifically in the PWD command handler. The flaw occurs due to improper bounds checking when processing overly long PWD command inputs. Attackers can exploit this by sending a maliciously crafted FTP command, triggering a stack-based buffer overflow. This allows remote code execution (RCE) under the context of the server process. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without authentication, making it highly dangerous.
