Free5GC, Denial of Service, CVE-2025-53032 (Moderate)

Listen to this Post

How the mentioned CVE works:

The vulnerability CVE-2025-53032 exists within the Npcf_BDTPolicyControl service of Free5GC. A threat actor can exploit this flaw by sending a specially crafted HTTP POST request to the vulnerable API endpoint. This malformed request contains data that the application fails to parse or handle correctly, causing an internal error. The processing thread for this request enters an unhandled exception state, leading to a crash. Repeated exploitation of this issue depletes available system resources or causes critical service processes to terminate. Consequently, the core network function becomes unresponsive, resulting in a Denial of Service condition for legitimate users and network functions that depend on the BDTPolicyControl service.
