How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-25257 is an SQL injection vulnerability in Fortinet FortiWeb versions 7.6.0-7.6.3, 7.4.0-7.4.7, 7.2.0-7.2.10, and below 7.0.10. The flaw stems from improper neutralization of special elements in SQL commands (CWE-89). An unauthenticated attacker can craft malicious HTTP/HTTPS requests containing SQL payloads, which are executed by the backend database due to insufficient input sanitization. This allows arbitrary SQL query execution, potentially leading to data theft, authentication bypass, or full system compromise. The attack vector is network-based, requiring no privileges, and exploits low-complexity attack patterns.
