How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-20246 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Cisco Webex due to improper input sanitization. Attackers inject malicious JavaScript payloads into user-controllable fields (e.g., chat messages, meeting notes). When another user views the manipulated content, the script executes in their browser session, allowing session hijacking, credential theft, or malware delivery. The attack requires no authentication—only a crafted link or embedded payload. Cisco Webex fails to validate/sanitize input in certain parameters, enabling arbitrary script execution under the victim’s privileges.
