How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-20216 exploits improper input sanitization in Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager’s web interface. An attacker crafts a malicious link containing HTML payloads. When an authenticated user clicks the link, the payload executes in their browser due to insufficient filtering. This allows arbitrary HTML/JavaScript injection, potentially leading to session hijacking, phishing, or data theft. The attack relies on social engineering to trick users into interacting with the malicious link.
