The CVE-2025-12766 IDOR vulnerability exists in the Management Console of BlackBerry AtHoc OnPrem version 7.21. This console manages multiple organizations on a shared Interactive Warning System (IWS) instance. Each organization is assigned a unique identifier, such as a numeric ID or UUID, used in API endpoints and web parameters for data access. When an authenticated user requests their organization’s data, the application references these identifiers without proper authorization checks. An attacker can manipulate these references by modifying parameters in HTTP requests, like changing an ID in a URL or POST body. For example, if the endpoint /api/org/101 returns data for organization 101, an attacker could change it to /api/org/102 to access another organization’s data. The application fails to verify if the user has permission to access the requested object, relying solely on the reference itself. This flaw allows horizontal privilege escalation, where users can view sensitive information from other organizations, such as user lists, alert details, or configuration data. Exploitation requires an authenticated session, but even low-privilege accounts can perform this attack. The vulnerability is server-side and stems from missing access control validation before data retrieval. It is particularly severe in multi-tenant environments, leading to widespread information disclosure. Remediation involves implementing server-side checks to ensure object ownership matches user permissions.
