How the mentioned CVE works:
This vulnerability is an authentication bypass using an alternate path or channel. In affected versions of Apache Kylin, a flaw exists in the application’s security control logic. Specifically, certain API endpoints or servlets intended for internal communication or system health checks are improperly exposed on the network interface binding to a public IP address. These endpoints do not enforce the standard authentication and authorization checks required for accessing the Kylin dashboard and its underlying data. An unauthenticated remote attacker can craft HTTP requests directed at these specific, unprotected paths. By accessing these endpoints, the attacker can interact with the Kylin application, potentially executing system commands, retrieving sensitive metadata, or accessing project data without providing any valid credentials, thus completely bypassing the authentication mechanism.
Platform: Apache Kylin
Version: 4.0.0 – 5.0.2
Vulnerability : Authentication Bypass
Severity: High
date: 2025-10-02
Prediction: 2025-10-16
What Undercode Say:
`curl -I http://
`nmap -p 7070 –script http-auth-finder `
`grep -r “Unprotected Endpoint” /kylin/conf/`
How Exploit:
Send unauthenticated HTTP requests to the exposed internal endpoints to execute commands or leak data, bypassing the login page entirely.
Protection from this CVE
Upgrade to Kylin 5.0.3. Restrict network access to the Kylin port (7070 by default) using firewall rules. Ensure all endpoints require authentication.
Impact:
Unauthenticated remote attackers can gain unauthorized access, leading to data leakage, data manipulation, or full system compromise.
