How CVE-2026-48449 Works
CVE-2026-48449 is a critical vulnerability affecting Adobe Campaign Classic (ACC), a widely used enterprise marketing automation platform. The flaw resides in the application’s authorization logic, specifically failing to correctly verify a user’s permissions before granting access to certain functionalities.
This Incorrect Authorization weakness, classified under CWE-863, allows an unauthenticated attacker to bypass intended access restrictions. By sending a specially crafted network request to a vulnerable Campaign Classic instance, an attacker can reach a protected function that should require proper authentication and authorization.
The root cause is a failure in the application’s authorization check—the software performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. This oversight enables attackers to bypass intended access restrictions and execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user.
Crucially, exploitation requires no user interaction and no prior privileges. The attack vector is network-based with low attack complexity, making it easily exploitable over the internet. The vulnerability has a changed security scope, meaning the impact can extend beyond the vulnerable component to affect other resources in the system.
The specific endpoint, request format, or code path has not been publicly disclosed by Adobe. However, the combination of an authorization failure and remote code execution capability creates a critical risk if an attacker can reach the Campaign Classic service. Once exploited, the attacker can execute arbitrary code with the permissions of the currently running user context, leading to complete compromise of the system’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Adobe released a security update (APSB26-114) addressing this issue.

What Undercode Say: Analytics
Vulnerability analytics indicate that CVE-2026-48449 affects fully on-premises and hybrid deployments of Adobe Campaign Classic v7. Adobe-hosted instances have already been remediated and require no customer action.
Affected Versions Check:
Check build number in Adobe Campaign Classic cat /usr/local/neolane/nl6/customer.sh | grep buildNumber Or check the version file cat /usr/local/neolane/nl6/version.txt
Patch Verification:
Verify patched version (7.4.3 build 9398 or higher) grep -i "build" /usr/local/neolane/nl6/customer.sh
Exploit: CVE-2026-48449
The vulnerability can be exploited remotely over the network without authentication. An attacker would need to identify a vulnerable Campaign Classic instance and craft requests targeting the unprotected authorization endpoint.
Conceptual Attack Flow:
Identify vulnerable ACC instances (example reconnaissance)
nmap -p 8080,8443 --script http- <target_network>
Crafted HTTP request to vulnerable endpoint (generic example)
curl -X POST https://<target>/campaign/api/unsafeEndpoint \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"cmd":"exec","payload":"<malicious_code>"}'
Note: Specific exploit details have not been publicly released by Adobe. The above represents a conceptual flow based on the vulnerability class.
Protection: CVE-2026-48449
- Apply Security Update: Upgrade to Adobe Campaign Classic version 7.4.3 build 9398 or later.
2. Update Command:
Download and apply the latest update package from Adobe wget https://download.adobe.com/.../campaign/update_7.4.3_build9398.sh chmod +x update_7.4.3_build9398.sh ./update_7.4.3_build9398.sh
3. Network Segmentation: Restrict network access to Campaign Classic services to trusted IP ranges only.
4. Monitoring: Enable logging and monitor for anomalous requests to Campaign Classic endpoints.
5. Hosted Instances: If using Adobe-hosted instances, verify that Adobe has applied the fix; no action is required.
