How the Mentioned CVE Works:
The vulnerability, CVE-2025-XXXX, is a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) issue in the `gr.Datetime` component of the `gradio-app/gradio` repository. The flaw stems from the use of a poorly optimized regular expression:
`^(?:\snow\s(?:-\s(\d+)\s([bash]))?)?\s$`.
This regex is used to process user input in the `gr.Datetime` component. Due to the way Python’s default regex engine handles backtracking, certain crafted inputs can cause the regex evaluation to take polynomial time, leading to excessive CPU usage. An attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted HTTP request to the Gradio server, causing the process to consume 100% CPU resources. This results in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition, rendering the server unresponsive to legitimate requests.
